Our oldest daughter Sarah got married this weekend in Hawaii where she has lived since 2006.

It has been a fantastic week of ceremony, celebration and celestial happiness. I’m taking a few days off from writing my marketing blog so that I can be present and in the moment.

The week has been filled with family, friends and fabulous food.

Between Fanny, Sarah’s husband Adam and Sansei, the wedding caterer, the kitchen never got to rest. Fanny made an amazing shower brunch menu and Adam’s cooked the rehearsal dinner with local Hawaiian cuisine. Sansei is the restaurant that Fanny presented on Cooking Channel. Can you say panko crusted ahi tuna rolls in a butter wasabi sauce?

In the photograph, Sarah is wearing the traditional Haku lei, worn on special occasions. During the ceremony, Noelani, who performed the service said that you create a traditional lei from beautiful flowers and like a family, tying them together creates something new and unusual but each flower doesn’t lose its beauty.

Part of Hawaiian culture, ohana means family (in an extended sense of the term, including blood-related, adoptive or intentional). The concept emphasizes that families are bound together.

My heart is filled with gratitude for all the grace that surrounds me.

Aloha.
