After the last of many stakeholder interviews I did with my new client’s customers, I reviewed my comprehensive notes and found no one mentioning technology. The company had invested millions in new tech only to find that growth was flat. They spent millions on a new operating system but didn’t invest in their human operating systems.

Frequently, B2B companies love to market their sexy tech, but the inconvenient truth is that people still buy from people.

Service, manufacturing and healthcare sectors realize that to move the growth needle, how you build a human operating system matters more than javascript, python or windows.

David, Not Data

In hours of interviews, David’s name came up on almost every call. David this, David that. Always David.

He was always attentive to their needs, listening carefully to find solutions to challenges, and offering to provide a connection to a human being. Clearly he had strong EQ.

Of course, their website and services needed to function, but all of the feedback was about David and his colleagues, not data access.

Engagement, Empathy, and Emotions

Are you sure you understand how your customers feel treated by the people they engage with at work?

Obviously, clients and customers have jobs that need to achieve, but it is the human engagement that keeps them as customers and sources of referrals.

How much are you investing in your HOS? (Human operating systems).

Invest in David, not just data.
